Voting Equipment

In May 2015 the State Board of Elections decertified Brunswick County's voting machines. To ensure the integrity of elections the Brunswick County Electoral Board and the General Registrar replaced them with Election Services Online's OpenElect Voting Optical Scan (OVO) and their OpenElect Voting Interface – Vote Center (OVI-VC). The County Administrator and the Board of Supervisors moved quickly to procure replacement machines for our county.

In our first election use of the systems, the consensus of the voters experiences was short wait times and ease of use. This and new use of Electronic Polbooks (EPs) removed the bottlenecks created at check-in and voting machine use. There were some questions about using paper ballots again, but after voting the difference was clear.

If you have any questions or concerns about our voting system please contact the registrars office at 434.848.4414 or contact Election Services Online.
